About the Role
UnityPoint St. Luke's - Downtown is seeking a Supervisor for Environmental Services to oversee the evening shift (2pm-10:30pm). This role supervises the services team to ensure cleanliness, safety, and efficiency of healthcare facilities, including staff scheduling, training, inventory management, and quality control. The position enforces hospital sanitation standards, supports regulatory compliance, and fosters a positive work environment through coaching and professional development.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and evaluate cleanliness standards across all serviced areas; complete routine inspections and document findings in CMMS.
- Monitor adherence to safety, sanitation, and infection control policies; initiate corrective action as needed.
- Coordinate and adjust staff assignments and schedules to meet cleaning and linen distribution demands.
- Submit supply requisitions and manage inventory of chemicals, linen, and equipment to ensure operational continuity.
- Ensure accurate daily recordkeeping including attendance (UKG, OneStaff), work logs, and service documentation.
- Respond to and resolve service complaints from patients, staff, or visitors in a timely and customer-oriented manner.
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate performance of EVS team members, including participation in hiring, onboarding, and disciplinary processes.
- Conduct performance reviews, set goals, provide regular feedback, and recommend staff actions (e.g., promotions or terminations).
- Deliver or coordinate training for new hires and ensure retraining as needed to meet evolving quality and safety standards.
- Act as the first-line leader, assuming full supervisory responsibilities during manager absences.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- 3 years of experience in Environmental Services, Housekeeping, or related facilities support roles in a healthcare, hospitality, or institutional setting required.
- At least 1 year of experience in team management, including responsibility for staff scheduling, task delegation, performance evaluation, and training preferred.
- Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons required.
