About the role

The Supervisor Environmental Services position is responsible for directing the work of staff, overseeing daily operations within assigned areas. This position supervises staff, shift activities and is responsible for staffing levels and budget compliance.

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff, shift activities and is responsible for staffing levels and budget compliance
• Contributes to staffing decisions such as hiring, coaching and counseling employees on work related performance
• Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a safe and effective work environment
• Oversees the daily work activities of the work unit/department staff, ensuring quality, productivity, functional excellence and efficiency
• Trains and supervises staff while maintaining adequate staffing levels and budget compliance
• Participates in performance improvement activities, as well as providing support for department management to achieve operational goals

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or an additional four years of experience required in lieu of degree
• Two years Environmental services hospital experience preferred
• Required: DL - Driver License - State Licensure - Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation_PSV and DOTHAZMAT Certification (DOT) - Houston Methodist renewed every 3 years within 90 days
• Preferred: BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA)

• Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job
• Ability to effectively communicate through a variety of channels with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles
• Ability to identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities; and recommend solutions
• Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office software including PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Webmail

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and two years of Environmental services hospital experience. They will also have a Driver License, DOTHAZMAT Certification, and preferred BLS certification.
