Supervisor Engineering, Optimus Technicians
About the role
Lead a large team of 20+ Engineering Technicians within the Humanoid AI Robot team who support and sustain the research and development of our prototype robots and sub-systems. You’ll oversee the team building and repairing the first iterations of the machines that make the machines, including highly actuated and electronically/computationally dense robots. This role blends leadership of large teams operating in a 24/7 capacity—creating efficient shift schedules—with hands-on responsibilities in analysis, testing, and documentation. Projects are open-ended and often come with limited up-front guidance.
Responsibilities

- Exceed customer expectations by actively engaging with existing and new customers, monitoring service trends, and implementing continuous improvements.

- Drive operational excellence by understanding and improving all aspects of service center performance and championing safety and efficiency.
- Manage finances, understand business metrics, and lead daily operations to achieve specific goals in quality, productivity, cost, and revenue.
- Act in the best interest of Tesla, demonstrating sound judgment, passion for the mission, and fostering a customer-focused culture.
- Develop technical acumen, acquire knowledge of all Tesla products, service systems, processes, and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Ability to travel up to 75%.
- Prior leadership experience in a service-focused industry; automotive expertise is not required.
- Experience leading large teams.
- Proven experience leading field, technical repair, or manufacturing teams in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment with strong customer-facing responsibilities.
- Experience running complex processes using Lean or other techniques.
- Valid driver’s license.
Must have a broad background leading teams in Mechatronics, Industrial, Automotive, Precision Medical Device, Maintenance, and/or Testing. Must be a self-starter and efficiently work independently as well as in team environments.

Pay
Expected compensation: $120,800 - $181,200/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
