Supervisor Emergency Department Behavioral Health
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
Serves as the operations manager of the department by facilitating daily rounds, developing strategies for timely crisis evaluations and dispositions to reduce patient length of stay, supervising and evaluating behavioral health staff, developing the monthly schedule, approving payroll, and providing efficient financial management.
Conducts diagnostic evaluations of ED behavioral health patients.
Works collaboratively with ED providers, nursing, and security to develop and implement strategies for the de-escalation of aggressive and agitated patients and provide the least restrictive environment possible.
Works collaboratively with ED providers and nursing to ensure seamless patient transitions from the ED to inpatient psychiatric facilities or other appropriate placements.
Maintains the Elder Behavioral Health Services unit to ensure placement of appropriate geriatric patients.
Develops behavioral health community partnerships and strategic relationships to help serve the greater needs of the behavioral health population in the greater community.
Ensures compliance with state and regulatory requirements.
Qualification Requirements
- Masters degree (MA), MSW, M.Ed., LCSW or LICSW preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in the behavioral health field.
- Highly effective conflict resolution and mediation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Management Experience preferred.
