Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide leadership to a team of drivers, including performance monitoring, coaching, and ongoing support to ensure efficient and compliant transportation operations.
  • Conduct regular driver performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that promotes safety, accountability, and high performance across the driver team.
  • Address and resolve driver-related operational issues, escalating concerns when necessary and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Plan, review, and optimize transportation routes to improve fuel efficiency, reduce deadhead miles, and ensure safe and on-time delivery of freight.
  • Monitor operational conditions such as traffic, weather, and route constraints, making adjustments as necessary to maintain service reliability.
  • Ensure drivers comply with all applicable DOT regulations, federal and state transportation laws, and company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular driver meetings focused on safety, operational updates, compliance expectations, and team communication.
  • Collaborate with customer service and operations teams to address delivery concerns and ensure timely resolution of customer issues.
  • Support initiatives designed to improve service quality, operational efficiency, and overall transportation performance.
  • Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and related technology tools to manage driver operations, track performance, and support operational decision-making.
  • Provide training and guidance to drivers on the use of company technology platforms and operational systems.
  • Review and approve operational documentation, reports, and driver-related records as required.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business operations.

Education & Experience

  • A high school diploma or GED required. A bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Previous experience in transportation operations, fleet management, or logistics operations required.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience within transportation, trucking, or logistics operations preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and transportation compliance requirements.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and leadership levels.
  • Results-oriented approach with a strong commitment to operational performance and service quality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and operational technology platforms preferred.
