Responsibilities
- Assists Program Administrator with day-to-day oversight of residence through supervision of assigned direct support staff, ensuring duties are assigned and performed in accordance with all applicable requirements.
- Consults with program leadership, clinical staff, external consultants, and community providers to ensure streamlined, top-quality care for individuals in line with agency philosophy and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures appropriate, therapeutically documented supervision to protect the health, safety, and habilitation of individuals supported, in accordance with individualized service and behavior support plans.
- Implements plans for protective oversight and Individual Behavior Support Plans (IBSPs)/Individualized Program Plans (IPPs) in a clean, safe, and organized environment, ensuring proper execution by direct support staff.
- Demonstrates and models professionalism with a person-centered, trauma-informed approach, providing coverage and performing direct care responsibilities as needed.
- Maintains oversight and compliance of program operations, including staff scheduling, daily shift reports, required postings, and tracking logs (e.g., vehicle, refrigerator, medication handoff).
- Provides effective leadership on shift, fostering a harassment-free work environment and using participatory management to bolster morale.
- Directly supervises DSP-RBTs, Back-up Leads, and other staff during shifts, ensuring consistent application of rules, standards, and policies to meet the needs of individuals supported.
- Assesses work performance and provides feedback through ongoing supervision, observation, and development, ensuring completion of applicable training and documentation.
- Actively participates in the hiring process, including interviewing, selecting, and scheduling staff to maintain shift coverage.
- Initiates, reviews, or approves staff status changes (e.g., promotions, terminations) and ensures timely submission in Workday.
- Ensures accurate and timely completion of timekeeping records and payroll processing, addressing attendance or time-tracking concerns as needed.
- Maintains and documents inventory of food, household supplies, toiletry items, and over-the-counter medications, including controlled substances, in collaboration with program leadership.
- Supports and facilitates interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care with circles of support, including individuals, families, YAI staff, consultants, and external providers.
- Serves as Facility Manager on assigned shifts, conducting and documenting emergency drills, physical plant checks, and water temperature logs in compliance with Title 22, Title 17, and agency standards.
- Supports completion and maintenance of all treatment-related paperwork, including medical records, progress reports, incident reports, and billing records, ensuring compliance by staff.
- Completes incident reporting, including Special Incident Reports, and makes required notifications; contacts vendors for property damages and notifies Program Administrator.
- Manages and accurately documents financial ledgers of individuals supported.
- Actively participates in program and person-specific meetings, including shift reports, IBST, staff meetings, trainings, and debriefings, and leads shift meetings to communicate updates.
- Provides driver certification and training to DSP-RBTs, including transporting individuals supported using facility vehicles.
- Complies with and ensures staff compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, including HIPAA.
- Completes and maintains all necessary trainings and certifications to ensure compliance with YAI policies and licensing regulations.
- Performs additional duties as assigned, including covering for Lead RBT/LPT or DSP-RBT roles as needed.
Requirements
- 21 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities (I/DD) with challenging behavior service needs.
- At least six months of supervisory or lead experience in I/DD, mental health, or a related field.
- Documented completion of State of California Direct Support Professional Training (DSPT) Year 1 and Year 2 courses.
- Hold, or obtain within sixty days of appointment, certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and maintain it for the duration of employment, unless qualified as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) or Qualified Behavior Modification Professional.
- Hold, or obtain within fifteen months of employment, certification as either a Group Home Administrator (for children’s homes) or Adult Residential Facility Administrator (for adult homes).
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Familiarity with California’s Lanterman Act and Title 17 and 22 regulations.
- Successful completion of Facility Manager Training within 30 days of appointment.
- Completion of Residential Services Orientation through the program’s Regional Center.
- Hold, or obtain through employer-provided training, CPR/First Aid, Ukeru, and CPI certifications, and recertify annually.
- Completion of annual continuing education units (CEUs) for professional development as required by Titles 17 and 22.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to contribute to a healthy work environment and shape positive team dynamics.
- Supervisory and leadership skills, including effective communication of deadlines and expectations, and hands-on coaching of staff.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while adapting to changing needs.
- Highly flexible, with a willingness to take initiative.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite; ability to quickly learn electronic systems such as Workday and electronic medical record/documentation systems.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including remaining on shift for coverage or providing occasional coverage at other programs if requested.
- Ability to meet essential physical demands, including frequent walking, sitting, standing, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and reaching; assisting with lifting/moving individuals using mechanical lifts or other equipment; lifting up to 25 pounds; and implementing emergency interventions as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a human services field.
- Current Group Home or Adult Residential Facility Administrator Certificate issued by the State of California, as applicable.
- Previous experience providing direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in the population to be supported.
- Supervisory experience in a residential or crisis setting.
Pay
Hourly Rate: $34 - $36
