Supervisor, Day Health Services

About the role

The Arc of Union County Inc. is a leading provider of Person Centered services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through Adult Day Services programming. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Day Health Services and operating under the supervision of Adult Health Registered Nurse, Supervisor, Day Health Services (LPN) is responsible to assure the delivery of quality person centered services to all assigned service recipients in accordance with the Agency’s goals of “Person Centered Planning” and within the guidelines of all Agency and DDD policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain ongoing monitoring and documentation of residents’ health needs.
• Identify emerging health needs and provide appropriate guidance and intervention as directed.
• Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team monitoring individual support needs and making recommendations relative to identified needs.
• Assist in delivering education and training to acquire skills needed for community participation, including problem‑solving, self‑help, social, adaptive, daily living, and leisure skills.
• Support small group outings to the community, leisure, educational activities and community experiences.

Requirements

• Current New Jersey Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure.
• One year of supervisor‑level experience that includes three years combined Direct Support Professional and Assistant Supervisor role experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at front‑line management.
• Knowledge in the design and supervision of a program serving individuals with I/DD and development of staff.
• Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Social Services or a related supporting field preferred.
• Demonstrated thorough understanding of the knowledge, abilities and skills outlined above.
• Flexibility and ability to thrive in an ever‑changing, busy, fast‑paced environment.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license with an abstract not exceeding 5 points and ability to meet agency insurability requirements.
• Complete State/Federal Criminal Background checks and Central Registry checks.
• Ability to perform duties in indoor and/or outdoor settings with exposure to weather elements, dirt, dust, unpleasant smells, loud noises, and occasional temperature fluctuations.
• Ability to meet physical demands: maintain stationary positions (standing/sitting), move/traverse, kneel, bend, reach with hands and arms for extended periods, twist, carry/lift up to 35 pounds, squat, drive a 6‑person passenger van, operate manual devices such as hydraulic lifts, wheelchair lifts, vehicle doors, etc.
• Wrist and finger dexterity to access, key and sort electronic information or file documents; ability to view computer/electronic device for extended periods.
• Ability to apply Agency Training Crisis Management Verbal and Physical Techniques during a crisis consistent with agency policies and procedures.
• Cognitive abilities: analyze, compute, hear and repeat information, take notes, read documents, generate written information, independently problem solve, tolerate interruptions, maintain positive public relations, organize, verbally communicate and converse with a diverse group of people.
