Day Service Supervisor
Overview
Reporting to the Day Services Team Leader, the Day Services Supervisor is responsible for developing and implementing programming that is challenging, inspiring, and aligned with the valued outcomes of the individuals who receive services. Programming should be person‑centered, foster community integration, and focus on skill acquisition and/or retention while remaining compliant with agency, state, and federal requirements. This is a management position that provides supervision to the Direct Support Professionals in the program.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Day Services Team Leader to develop, coordinate and implement program goals.
- Provide supervision utilizing the Direct Support Professional Core Competencies, JC Code of Ethics & Empowerment Strategies; give performance feedback to direct reports.
- Ensure program records are up‑to‑date and current for each person enrolled in the service.
- Work with Care Coordinators to obtain and share documents to ensure complete and contemporaneous files.
- Prepare for and attend Life Plan and other team meetings; develop Staff Action Plans and document meeting minutes.
- Role‑model, coach and train staff on implementation of the Habilitation Staff Action Plan and service documentation; maintain records of in‑service training and communicate training needs to the Leadership Team.
- Collaborate with DSP SR, Direct Support Professionals and individuals supported to develop and implement the daily schedule of activities.
- Support implementation of the Behavior Support Plan in coordination with the Behavior Clinician.
- Monitor the electronic health record (eVero) to ensure complete, accurate and timely documentation of service delivery.
- Monitor service delivery to ensure quality and adherence to NADSP Core Competencies, Code of Ethics, Staff Action Plan and Safeguards; take corrective actions as necessary and immediately notify the Supervisor of concerns.
- Coordinate with the Day Services Team Leader to ensure adequate staff coverage at all times; provide coverage and perform direct support duties as needed.
- Interview candidates together with the Day Services Team Leader.
- Create and maintain a healthy, productive work environment by modeling positive behaviors that teach patience, professionalism, and teamwork.
- Plan and co‑facilitate staff meetings with the Day Services Team Leader.
- Follow and adhere to all agency and program policies and procedures, including HIPAA, confidentiality, accident/incident reporting, Corporate Culture Playbook, Corporate Compliance Plan, and report facility or program needs to the Supervisor.
- Complete special projects as requested, working independently or with colleagues.
- Actively participate in supervision for professional growth and development.
- Report to work promptly and adhere to the assigned schedule; complete all required initial, annual, and ongoing training.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with staff and colleagues; attend department and agency meetings as requested.
- Maintain a valid NYS driver’s license in good standing and operate agency vehicles as needed.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Qualifications
- Good oral and written communication skills.

- Good analytical ability with problem‑solving and follow‑up.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in the use of a personal computer, appropriate software, and email system.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to operate an agency vehicle if needed.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or Registered Nurse in a related field with a minimum of 1 year supervisory experience.
- Associate’s Degree in a related field with a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.
- Minimum 5 years experience with the related population and at least 2 years supervisory experience (preferred).
- Working knowledge of OPWDD regulations and payment standards as they pertain to Supplemental Day Habilitation, Community Habilitation, and Respite.
Physical Demands
Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the job including but not limited to stooping, lifting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, standing, walking, hearing, listening, and communicating appropriately.
Location
Howard Beach, Queens, NY.
Pay
$26.00 per hour.
Schedule
Monday‑Friday, 10 am – 7 pm (40 hrs) with a 1‑hour unpaid lunch. No weekends.
