About the role

This job assumes responsibility for coordinating Clinical Pharmacy Services. This job facilitates the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe, cost-effective drug therapies. This job provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners, provides training, education and competency assessment of pharmacists, clinical rotation students/residents (if applicable) regarding the department's clinical programs, and reviews the performance and documentation of clinical activities of all pharmacists.

Responsibilities

  • Captures and coordinates Clinical Pharmacy Services
  • Educates staff on pharmaceutical issues
  • Supervises, trains and develops department staff
  • Provides patient assessment and care
  • Maintains professional certifications, licenses and technical knowledge
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Requirements

Required - Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D)

Preferred - Post-doctoral residency or fellowship

Required - 3 to 5 years experience in clinical practice

Supervisory experience

Qualifications

Required - Current Pharmacy license in the state of practice

Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to deal effectively and to work collaboratively with all members of the health care team including physicians, administration, nurses, and support staff.
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Strong leadership skills
