Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator
About the role
The Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing and managing the pharmacy clinical programs. This includes formulary management, policy and procedure development and education across the healthcare spectrum.
This individual will serve as a key support to the Director of Pharmacy. The role is responsible for advancing antimicrobial stewardship initiatives, overseeing formulary management, and promoting medication safety to ensure optimal patient outcomes and regulatory compliance.
The Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator will play an active role in contributing to daily pharmacy operations while maintaining high standards of clinical care and staffing as needed. In addition, this position will support the training and orientation of new clinical pharmacists, helping to foster a strong, knowledgeable, and collaborative team environment.
This role involves representing pharmacy on interdisciplinary committees, contributing to patient-centered decisions, and leading performance and quality improvement initiatives. It includes overseeing policy compliance, reviewing medication use for optimization, and providing clinical consultations to support safe and effective patient care.
Responsibilities
- Designs, implements, and manages pharmacy clinical programs including formulary management, policy and procedure development, and education across the healthcare spectrum.
- Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners.
- Suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff as needed.
- Sustains the hospital formulary, minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges, and promoting rational drug therapy selection.
- Supports participation in daily multidisciplinary and bedside rounds (may need to attend).
- Identifies, designs, and analyzes drug utilization reviews to promote rational drug therapy and determines action plan based on results.
- Provides accurate and timely medication information to healthcare staff and patients.
Requirements
- B.S. or Pharm D. degree in Pharmacy
- Minimum of 1 year as a Pharmacy Clinical Specialist
- Minimum of 1 year as a Pharmacy Clinical Specialist
- Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy
- Minimum of 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience
Qualifications

- Preferred Qualifications: Pharmacy Clinical Specialist with 2–3 years of experience, 1 year of Leadership experience preferred
