Supervisor, Bus Maintenance

Responsibilities

• Planning, coordinating, and personnel forecasting for the servicing of MTA buses and other vehicles.
• Employee tracking, distribution of random drug and alcohol testing, labor relations, initiating new procedures and ideas, issuing of disciplinary actions, and executing provisions of MTA Rules, Regulations and Policies as well as provisions of the labor contract/s.
• Directly supervise A, B and C Repairpersons, Cleaners, and Maintenance Control Clerks.
• Conduct daily shift meetings and provide instruction regarding shop rules, safety procedures, and operational expectations.
• Review and update daily activity reports and preventive maintenance schedules using maintenance management systems (e.g., Maximo).
• Cookordination with the Operations Control Center regarding service interruptions and road calls.
• Review road call reports and ensure timely resolution.
• Monitor workforce attendance and productivity, address manpower allocation to balance line requirements and preventive maintenance completion.
• Issue disciplinary actions in accordance with MTA policies and applicable labor contracts.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
• Experience: Four years of experience in the repair, maintenance and inspection of heavy-duty automotive vehicles and equipment. Two (2) years of experience supervisory and/or lead experience overseeing staff, assigning and reviewing work, providing direction and guidance, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Special Requirements

• Employees are subject to twenty-four (24) hour call-in during special or weather events, emergency situations, or as deemed necessary.
• Work is usually performed in a vehicle garage setting which may be hazardous.
• Bus Maintenance Supervisors may be subject to travel and work outdoors at various locations throughout the MTA service area, in all types of weather conditions.
• Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49- Federal Department of Transportation Drug Alcohol Testing Protocols and Federal Transit Administration Alcohol Testing Rules.
• Licenses & Certifications: Employees in this classification are assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
