Job Description
- Maintain a clean, safe, sanitary, and guest-ready condition of the arena before, during, and after events.
- Supervise union Building Services Associates during assigned event shifts.
- Monitor employee performance and productivity throughout the event.
- Provide coaching, instruction, and guidance to employees while maintaining a positive work environment.
- Ensure employees comply with departmental policies, collective bargaining agreement provisions, SOPs, and safety requirements.
- Document performance concerns and communicate issues to Building Services management.
- Aid in employee training and onboarding of new staff.
- Cook up cleaning operations before, during, and after events.
- Ensure all assigned areas meet arena cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Respond quickly to operational issues, guest concerns, and emergency cleaning situations.
- Coordinate post-event cleaning activities to ensure timely building turnover.
Equipment & Supply Management
- Ensure employees safely operate all cleaning equipment.
- Inspect equipment before and after use.
- Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned and properly stored following each event.
- Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, chemicals, paper products, liners, and equipment.
- Coordinate replenishment of supplies as needed.
- Ensure proper chemical handling and storage procedures are followed.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure employees utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Monitor safe chemical usage and compliance with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements.
- Report accidents, injuries, hazards, and property damage immediately.
- Aid in emergency response procedures when necessary.
- Promote a safe working environment for employees, guests, contractors, and vendors.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow written procedures.
- Ability to effectively lead union employees in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
- Attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on event schedules.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Push and pull loaded carts, cleaning equipment, and trash containers.
- Perform repetitive physical activities throughout the work shift.
- Operate powered cleaning equipment safely.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Work in environments containing dust, moisture, cleaning chemicals, noise, and large crowds associated with sporting events and concerts.
