About the role

Purchasing Supervisor will manage the workflow of the Buyers, schedule coverage, and delegate tasks. They will assess work performance, ensure goals, deadlines, policy and procedures, and performance standards, KPIs, are met, train and onboard new hires, and educate existing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage workflow of Buyers, schedules/coverage, monitor daily reports, conduct workload balancing and delegating tasks; assess, provide staff feedback and hold them accountable for work performance, ensuring goals, deadlines, policy & procedures and performance standards, KPIs, are met
  • Execute new initiatives and projects while adhering to deadlines and budgets
  • Resource for staff to help and direct the resolution of issues and workflow roadblocks and stoppages
  • Maintain daily buyer responsibilities
  • Proactively assist with escalations from Supply Chain departments to address process and payment issues
  • Establishes and maintains a positive rapport through effective communication, timeline follow-up with customers, staff, coworkers, auditing firms and outside agencies/vendors
  • Provide guidance on Purchasing processes and policies for all business units and departments
  • Oversee assigned Buyer team
  • Collaborate with management, peers and end-users on process improvement ideas, plans and execution
  • Act as a resource to staff and our customers for execute and implement of new initiatives

Requirements

  • Associates degree or 5 years of equivalent Purchasing experience with 1 year experience in a lead or supervisory capacity
  • Strongly prefer experience within healthcare industry
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications especially Excel
  • Able to perform basic mathematical calculations and formulas, balance and reconcile figures, possess good communication both written and verbal skills
  • Experience with ERP systems, PeopleSoft strongly preferred
