About the role
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities daily, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment, and manpower. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems.
Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor oversees the receiving, warehousing, and shipping of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. Associates are expected to meet company objectives in performance, safety, and quality while complying with all corporate and site-specific policies.
Responsibilities
- Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan, and ensure continuous improvement.
- Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues affecting operations.
- Develop systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably in accordance with company policies.
- Manage operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals, complying with the site's operating agreement with the client.
- Implement and report on cost-saving measures while providing ideas for more efficient operations.
- Meet all client-specified KPIs and comply with Quality system requirements.
- Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, creating programs to fairly supervise, counsel, and discipline team members.
- Provide direction and support to Human Resources, assisting in hiring, training, and professional development programs.
- Participate in performance evaluation systems for promotions, wage increases, and other HR activities.
- Train and evaluate warehouse staff, planning daily work schedules based on work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions.
- Assess priorities based on time sensitivity and available resources, assigning duties to appropriate staff.
- Review pending jobs or trends to plan warehouse space reorganization and adjust staffing or supply levels as needed.
- Train new staff or delegate training to experienced team members, assessing trainee progress and adding duties as appropriate.
- Monitor job performance throughout the day, providing guidance and advice as necessary.
- Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members acting as leads for lower-level staff.
- Keep the Manager informed of progress or problems requiring attention on a daily basis.
- Hold regular meetings with warehouse staff to assess overall status and discuss ideas for improvement.
- Deliver results by leveraging the right people at the right time.
- Maintain high motivation in team members to ensure focus on customer satisfaction.
- Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members.
- Conduct annual performance reviews for team members.
- Support adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and train team members accordingly.
- Assist in physical operations as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 3 years’ experience working in a logistics, distribution, or relevant environment.
- 1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation.
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Experience with RF Scanners and WMS functions.
- Strong English language skills (reading, writing, verbal) for business communication.
- Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for verifying product quantities, counting inventory, and related tasks.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and timely task completion.
- Good organizational and personnel management skills.
- Effective leadership, supervision, and planning abilities.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required by operations.
- Participation in cross-training activities to improve knowledge across departments and assist as a backup when needed.
- Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Willingness to work overtime as dictated by business needs.
- Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures, ranging from mild to moderate during warmer and colder months.

Pay
The expected base pay range for this position is $72,000.00 – $78,000.00 semimonthly. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
