Responsibilities

• Creates and implements resident activities and events.
• Manages activity staff schedules and coordinates volunteer staffing and activities.
• Creates and views resident care plans around activities.
• Completes activity assessments and Minimum Data Set (MDS) questions as required.
• Reports problems, concerns and information to leadership in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Communicates department activities and information to employees.
• Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strives to improve the quality of life for the residents by providing appropriate, meaningful activities and interventions.
• Aids in the planning and execution of various activities including fishing, nature walks, pet therapy, music therapy, and others.
• Assists with simple nursing procedures and transports residents to and from rooms.
• Demonstrates leadership abilities such as developing and motivating people.
• Possesses the ability to work with strong-willed residents and/or behavioral issues.
• Maintains strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Prioritizes responsibilities while working autonomously.
• Plans and oversees the utilization of resources and designs of work processes.

Requirements

• Associate degree preferred.
• Two years experience in this field preferred.
• Knowledge of working with a wide variety of resident demographics.
• Experience in social services or creative activities.
• Minimum of one year previous leadership/management experience preferred.
• Must be eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional by a recognized accrediting body.
• Successful completion of an accredited training program approved by state preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification or currently enrolled in a healthcare-related program preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).

Pay & Schedule

This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus of $1,000. Pay starts at $17.50 - $28.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. The schedule is Full time, with 40.00 weekly hours.
