Job Summary
Lead and supervise bus drivers to achieve transportation performance goals and expectations as they relate to the service center operations and the safe and timely transportation of all passengers.
Responsibilities
- Support leadership with employee management tasks such as bus driver assignments, attendance, overtime, accident protocols, and reporting of hazardous bus routes or other route issues.
- Oversee an equitable system for covering routes and support with dispatch duties if required.
- Review and understand Dallas ISD Policy, Student Transportation guidelines, and procedures to ensure consistency in decisions and actions with progressive discipline, administrative investigations, conflict resolution, and all personnel matters.
- Work closely with all stakeholders to ensure accurate information is given regarding the status of routes in order to address concerns/issues from the schools, leadership, parents, and community members.
- Oversee weekly and monthly student counts submitted by drivers and ensure reporting deadlines are achieved as required.
- Develop and foster good relations with the service center team, campuses, teachers, and parents to ensure complaints or community concerns through Let’s Talk or other platforms are reviewed promptly with proper follow-up and recording.
- Review routing system data and bus video footage periodically - issues positive feedback and ensures accountability with transportation and district protocols, including student discipline policies and procedure adherence.
- Maintain current knowledge of active routes and school locations to ensure timely services and accurate information.
- Takes action to ensure all equipment is kept in good repair, properly inventoried, and meets the needs of the safe welfare of students and staff.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (Preferred)
- Meet TEA qualifications for school bus drivers and maintain proper bus driving certification.
- Possess knowledge of the streets and highways in Dallas County and surrounding areas; individual school programs; the preparation of specific regular and federal reports; and safety regulations and practices.
- Knowledge of routing technology software.

- Utilize and navigate online mapping applications to provide accurate directions to specific locations/routes
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
- Proficient with MS Office, Excel, and Internet resources
- Understanding of routing and extracurricular activity scheduling (a plus)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
