About the role
The Supervising Special Investigator I (SSI I) provides direct supervision to a team of Northern California Special Investigators in the Sacramento Headquarters Office. The incumbent directs, plans, and organizes the work of a team of Special Investigators responsible for conducting operational, compliance, and/or performance reviews and investigations of individuals or business entities subject to the California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Act (Act) and the California Code of Regulations Title 14, Division 2, Chapter 5 (Regulations).
Responsibilities
- Directs, plans, and organizes the work of a team of Special Investigators.
- Conducts operational, compliance, and/or performance reviews and investigations of individuals or business entities.
- Provides guidance and support to the team of Special Investigators.
- Maintains a work environment that is free of discrimination and harassment.
- Promotes equal opportunity in employment.
- Maintains a valid California Driver’s License and participates in the DMV Employer Pull Notice Program.
- May require up to 50% travel per year.
- May require working irregular hours, including nights and holidays.
- May require weekend and unplanned assignments, which may require extended periods and overnight accommodations.
- May require fieldwork in various regions of the state and out-of-state, where weather conditions and temperatures can vary.
- Must possess required documents to travel via commercial airplane (i.e. Real ID and/or US passport).
Requirements
- Valid California Driver’s License.
- Participation in the DMV Employer Pull Notice Program.
- May require up to 50% travel per year.
- May require working irregular hours, including nights and holidays.
- May require weekend and unplanned assignments, which may require extended periods and overnight accommodations.
- May require fieldwork in various regions of the state and out-of-state, where weather conditions and temperatures can vary.
- May require driving a motor vehicle and travel via public transportation, including commercial airplane, train, ride-share and in the same vehicle as other staff.
- May require a valid California Driver’s License and participation in the DMV Employer Pull Notice Program.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Act (Act) and the California Code of Regulations Title 14, Division 2, Chapter 5 (Regulations).
- Ability to conduct operational, compliance, and/or performance reviews and investigations of individuals or business entities.
- Ability to provide guidance and support to a team of Special Investigators.
- Ability to maintain a work environment that is free of discrimination and harassment.
