SUPERVISING CASE RECORDS TECHNICIAN
About the Role
This is a 12-month limited-term supervisory position, which may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent. The role involves planning, organizing, and directing the work of subordinate staff engaged in processing, maintaining, and controlling records of incarcerated persons, youthful offenders, and parolees.
Responsibilities
- Perform the full range of supervisory duties, including interviewing and selecting staff.
- Evaluate training needs and performance.
- Assign work and represent the unit in management staff meetings.
- Collect, compile, and summarize data in report form regarding unit activities.
- Assist in developing workload projections and budgetary resources.
- Review, evaluate, and recommend operating procedures to reflect changes resulting from legislation or other factors.
- Participate in task forces or workgroups evaluating business operations or procedures.
- Personally perform the more difficult work.

- Eligible candidates may also be considered for a Training and Development assignment if specified on their application.

Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements are detailed in the Class Specification.
- Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
- If meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, unofficial transcripts/diploma must be included; official transcripts may be required upon appointment.
- Foreign education must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency through a NACES-approved service.
- New CDCR/CCHCS candidates must undergo a background investigation, Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis test/evaluation.
Skills
- Knowledge of modern office supplies, equipment, and procedures.
- Proficiency in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and modern English usage.
- Understanding of arithmetic and the Department's purpose, organization, activities, and automated systems.
- Familiarity with CDCR rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Ability to interpret written and numerical data.
- Proficiency in using personal computer/microcomputer systems and software applications.
- Skill in accurately entering data into a computerized database.
- Ability to learn and apply a broad range of technical data to individual cases.
- Effective communication and mathematical skills.
