Job Duties
- Provide daily leadership and direction to roofing foremen and subcontractors.
- Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, discipline, and professionalism.
- Supervise and mentor crews to ensure high-quality installations and professional conduct.
- Address performance issues, complaints, and disciplinary matters promptly and effectively.
- Evaluate crew performance regularly, identifying training needs and facilitating instruction or third-party resources when necessary.
- Conduct or participate in safety audits and equipment inspections (e.g., stair towers, forklifts).
- Enforce subcontractor compliance with all safety expectations and Nations Roof standards, including weekly toolbox talks and required documentation.
- Lead pre-job planning, including site-specific safety and work efficiency plans.
- Coordinate, supervise, and manage subcontractors and field staff to ensure proper execution and sequencing of work.
- Perform or delegate site take-offs, ensuring accurate and timely communication with Estimating.
- If take-off information can't be sent to Estimating by the next day, email them the same day with the reason for the delay.
- Track labor and crew performance against goals; collect photographic documentation when needed (e.g., verifying subcontractor time records).
- Ensure job-site productivity, troubleshoot gaps in planning, and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Order and track materials, minimize waste, and manage delivery schedules to support project timelines.
- If missing or unclear project information is discovered, notify the Operations Manager and Senior Project Manager immediately.
- Lead jobsite safety practices and ensure full compliance with OSHA, company, and customer safety protocols.
- Develop and maintain safety documentation, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and site-specific safety plans.
- Investigate and report incidents, near misses, and thefts; submit relevant documentation and photos promptly.
- Monitor subcontractor safety compliance and correct unsafe practices or conditions immediately.
- Enforce installation standards and verify workmanship throughout the project.
- Conduct destructive testing, such as cutting into hand welds, to verify proper techniques are used.
- Document quality control efforts with photographs and utilize tools like probing plans to ensure oversight.
- Represent the company professionally in all communications with clients, contractors, and consultants.
- Maintain consistent contact with customers to update progress, address concerns, and confirm satisfaction throughout the project from beginning to completion.
- Cooky/vendors, consultants, and suppliers to maintain progress and strong relationships.
- Submit timely and complete Daily Project Reports (DPRs), expense reports, and jobsite documentation.
- If daily reporting is not possible, notify the Manager in advance with an explanation.
- Reports required daily (e.g., DPRs, expense reports, and safety-related documents) must be completed daily, not in batches.
- Review the final project paperwork to ensure accurate billing and that all change orders are reflected.
- Maintain and update Salesforce and other business tools as needed in a timely manner with complete and accurate project data.
- Coordinate with internal departments, subcontractors, and field crews to ensure clear, timely communication.
- Aid Project Managers with documentation, contracts, purchase orders, and tracking tools.
- Attend or delegate attendance at all required project meetings.
- Ensure project documentation is organized and submitted promptly to appropriate departments.
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in permit processes and development coordination when required.
- Support company leadership with reporting and internal documentation needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge
- Knowledge of commercial roofing systems, including TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, BUR, metal, coatings, and insulation systems.
- Strong understanding of manufacturer specifications, warranty requirements, and installation standards.
- Ability to supervise and coordinate one or more commercial roofing crew(s) and/or subcontractors across active job sites.
- Understanding and knowledge of jobsite safety, OSHA regulations, fall protection, and rooftop safety enforcement.
- Experience attending pre-job planning meetings, daily tailgate talks, and safety audits.
- Skilled in quality control inspections, punch list management, and closeout documentation.
- Ability to identify and resolve field issues such as deck conditions, moisture intrusion, weather impacts, and design conflicts.
- Communication skills for coordination with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, and clients.
- Proficiency in daily reporting, photo documentation, and roofing project management software.
- Leadership skills focused on crew development, accountability, and productivity.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; trade or technical education preferred.
- 3–10 years of commercial roofing experience, preferred 3 years in a superintendent or lead foreman role.
- Hands-on experience installing and supervising commercial roofing systems from tear-off through final inspection.
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale commercial projects, occupied buildings, and complex scheduling requirements.
- Experience coordinating manufacturer inspections and securing system warranties.
- OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 strongly preferred.
- Ability to travel between job sites and work flexible hours as required by project demands.
- Valid driver’s license required.
