About the role

The Service Superintendent assists in managing the Service Department, ensuring roofing repair and maintenance projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget. This role provides leadership to field personnel, oversees daily job site operations, monitors quality and safety standards, coordinates labor, materials, and subcontractors, and serves as a key point of contact for customers. Responsibilities

  • Enforce branch objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate policy.
  • Monitor the quantity and quality of work performed by the branch.
  • Provide leadership to foremen—fostering safety, teamwork, and discipline—to ensure efficient and professional roof system installation.
  • Represent the company professionally in all dealings with customers, personnel, and the public.
  • Effectively manage all aspects of production to meet company and project goals.
  • Assist in diagnosing difficult leaks.
  • Provide takeoffs and proposals for customer requests.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required by the branch's operating needs or as directed.
  • Visit job sites daily.
  • Conduct or participate in daily safety audits.
  • Train field staff in safety, work skills, and efficiency.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to field technicians regarding job performance.
  • Resolve complaints and grievances; assist with discipline when necessary.
  • Discuss opportunities for professional development.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Ensure production and quality goals are met.
  • Maintain understanding of contract information for jobs.
  • Track labor hours and production against stated goals.
  • Schedule materials, equipment, and deliveries, using inventoried materials when possible.
  • Monitor material usage, minimize waste, anticipate shortages, and order materials as needed.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and manage subcontractors.
  • Monitor the quality of installations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum five (5) years of field experience in roof repair.
  • OSHA ten (10) hour safety course.
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and agility tests.
  • Comfortable climbing ladders up to 60 ft tall.
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs or more.
  • Successful background check.
  • Ability to properly repair modified bitumen, B.U.R., P.V.C., T.P.O., E.P.D.M., tile, and metal roof systems.
  • Good communication and writing skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including knowledge of scanning.
  • Ability to perform math calculations relevant to roofing work.
  • Ability to teach others roof system installation skills.
  • Ability to identify and correct unsafe conditions according to company and OSHA standards.
  • Knowledge to inspect and ensure attention to detail and quality.
