Superintendent I (Area)

About the Role

The Superintendent I (Area) at Skanska USA Building leads field operations within assigned project areas, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, profitably, and in alignment with contract documents, design, budget, and schedule. The position provides on‑site presence, coordination, and real‑time leadership in production, safety, and supervisory meetings while directly supervising field labor and Assistant Superintendents.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage field operations for assigned project areas.
• Ensure work is performed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to contract documents and design specifications.
• Supervise field labor and Assistant Superintendents with a strong on‑site presence.
• Coordinate real‑time production, safety, and supervisory meetings.
• Coach team members and maintain work‑site harmony.
• Support business development activities in the field.
• Enforce compliance with safety and quality standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent construction management experience.
• Leadership experience on fit‑out projects or specific areas of larger building projects.
• Demonstrated safety and QA/QC leadership.
• Experience overseeing subcontractors.
• Ability to update schedules, manage change orders and tickets, and interpret plans and specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with construction management tools and systems such as Procore, Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, OPC, and JD Edwards.
• Strong competency in contract management, risk management, logistics, quality control, project cost management, schedule ownership, and subcontractor oversight.
