The Summer School Food Service Cook

[The Summer School Food Service cook oversees preparation, sanitation, clean-up, and safety and security procedures in the assigned kitchen.]

Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with the director/district admin on total oversight of all nutrition programs including but not limited to CACFP and NSLP
  • Responsible that the kitchen meets federal, state, and local Health Department regulations and are compliant with established preparation and service methods, including the maintenance of appropriate records.
  • Responsible for all inventories of food and non-food items.
  • Responsible for all the organization of the coolers, freezers, and storeroom.
  • Daily efficient food preparation and service.
  • Read recipes, know standard weights and measurements, increase or decrease ingredients
  • Serve proper portions of food
  • Knowledge of equipment and operation.
  • Maintain excellent personal safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Work independently.
  • Maintain current knowledge of rules, regulations, technology, and procedures governing Food Service operations and District Regulations and Procedures.
  • Report all accidents/incidents immediately to the District Office.
  • Requires the use of multiple communication systems, such as electronic mail and computers
  • Use technology for communication, presentations, trainings, and workshops
  • Continue ongoing professional development as developed in cooperation with the District Office and OSPI Child Nutrition and as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned and perform related duties and key responsibilities consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
  • Professionally interact with students, staff, and public
