Job Overview As an Engineering Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting engineering projects, technical analysis, operations, and problem-solving. Depending on your team and assignment, you may work across areas such as electrical, mechanical, civil, environmental, industrial, nuclear, renewable energy, or other engineering disciplines. Throughout the internship, you’ll have opportunities to strengthen your technical and analytical skills, learn from experienced professionals, collaborate across disciplines, and better understand how engineering supports safe, reliable, efficient, and innovative energy solutions. Job Duties & Responsibilities Assists Engineering teams with assigned projects, technical analyses, and engineering activitiesAnalyzes technical, operational, and performance data to identify trends and opportunitiesSupports development, evaluation, testing, and implementation of engineering solutionsAssists with engineering calculations, models, drawings, specifications, reports, or documentationParticipates in project planning, problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiativesWorks with engineers, technicians, operations teams, and cross-functional business partnersHelps evaluate equipment, systems, processes, or technologiesIdentifies opportunities to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, quality, or performanceContributes to meaningful projects that address real business and technical challengesDevelops technical, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills through hands-on experiencePresents project work, findings, and recommendations to team members and leadershipTakes ownership of assigned work, asks thoughtful questions, and actively seeks opportunities to learn and contributeAssumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the programPerforms other job-related duties as assigned Required Qualifications Pursuing a degree in Engineering or a related technical fieldMaintain active enrollment in a bachelor’s degree or higher degree programMaintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higherAbility to complete a minimum 10-week internship, beginning no later than June 1 Preferred Qualifications Pursuing a degree in Engineering or a related technical fieldStrong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skillsAbility to apply technical concepts to real-world situationsFamiliarity with engineering software, data analysis tools, or technical applicationsStrong written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learnAbility to collaborate effectively while also taking ownership of individual responsibilitiesInterest in energy, technology, infrastructure, and engineering innovation NextEra Energy offers a wide range of benefits to support our employees and their eligible family members.
