About the role

The engineering summer internship at Lipscomb University is designed to provide a comprehensive experience for a Lipscomb University engineering student. This internship may involve:

  • Working with the Engineering Lab Manager to prepare and refresh lab spaces for fall courses, develop and update internal process documents, update SDS database for Fields, assist in Wind Tunnel research work, and perform BEST program decommissioning tasks.
  • Aid in Innovation Lab equipment usage for various projects and assist in other lab and machine shop-related projects.
  • Collaborate with Dr. Pearce and Anand Samuel to help coordinate Career Fair tasks, provide Fields building tours, and organize PD inventory.
  • Engage in summer outreach programs, assisting with the preparation and operations of hands-on and enrichment activities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and refresh lab spaces for fall courses.
  • Develop and update internal process documents including lab documentation, safety procedures, verify procedures in place, develop internal training for missing internal processes, and update SDS database for Fields.
  • Assist in Wind Tunnel research work as needed.
  • Perform BEST program decommissioning tasks such as inventory, storage update, redistribution of components, etc.
  • Train to use Innovation Lab equipment for various projects.
  • Aid in other lab and machine shop-related projects.
  • Help coordinate Career Fair tasks as a summer project, manage received deposits for the fair, and promote the fair to incoming and returning students.
  • Provide Fields building tours to prospective students of RBJCOE/SoC.
  • Organize PD inventory along with other misc items for storage.
  • Engage in summer outreach programs, assisting with the preparation and operations of hands-on and enrichment activities.

Requirements

  • Be an active rising Lipscomb University Sophomore or higher engineering student or a student in a related field.
  • Have a strong background in math.
  • Be able to work independently and efficiently to complete tasks.
  • Be enthusiastic and self-motivated.

Qualifications

  • May be federal work study eligible.
