Responsibilities
- Implement the program's mission, treatment philosophy, and policies.
- Counsel, observe, and provide behavioral training, outreach support, and treatment to children and their families.
- Ensure clients are supported to lead healthy lifestyles, including exercise and nutrition training, community integration, psycho-educational counseling, human rights advocacy, medication administration, and social skills training.
- Plan and participate in activities with clients/students on an individual and small group level.
- Provide first aid as needed.
- Manage living, dining, educational, and recreational areas to maintain a clean, organized environment.
- Coordinate medical and emergency situations with the supervisor.
- Communicate through written and verbal means with other program staff.
- Participate in supervision meetings with the supervisor.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year plus childcare experience in a residential setting with a similar population of children.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer, with the ability to learn new software applications.
Skills
- Knowledge of program routines and structure.
- Understanding of the population of clients.
- Fostering healthy, appropriate relationships with clients.
- Understanding of the level system (cards, behavior contracts, etc.).
- Supervising and coordinating activities of daily living for students.
- Providing first aid as needed.
- Planning and participating in activities with clients/students.
- Teaching age-appropriate life skills and social skills.
- Participating in groups and activities designed to enhance growth and development.
- Maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
- Communicating through written and verbal means with other program staff.
