Summer Camp Counselor - Vermilion

About the role

The Y is dedicated to putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. We seek Seasonal Camp Counselors who love spending time with children and have a passion for making a positive impact.

Responsibilities

• Implement and deliver a variety of camp activities
• Work with children of all ages in a safe and nurturing environment
• Ensure the health and safety of campers during all activities
• Collaborate with other staff members to plan and execute camp programs
• Engage in recreational activities such as sports, games, and outdoor adventures
• Lead group activities and lead children in singing, dancing, and storytelling

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• One year of experience working with children in a day camp setting preferred
• Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions

Qualifications

• Experience with outdoor recreation, songs, music, skits, sports, aquatics, and games

Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Positive attitude and ability to handle challenging situations

Pay

Competitive hourly rate based on experience

Schedule

Seasonal position starting at the end of May and running through mid-August
