Summer Camp Counselor

About the role

The Watauga County Parks & Recreation Department is seeking qualified individuals to work as Summer Camp Counselors.

Responsibilities

• Planning, organizing, and supervising recreational activities which may include: arts & crafts, music, sports, special events, special populations, and additional specialty programming
• Supervising children at all times
• Working with staff to ensure camp safety and program quality
• Cleaning of camp facility usage
• Ensuring camp safety and program quality
• Securing camp facilities daily
• Providing positive reinforcement for children
• Communicating with children and parents effectively and respectfully
• Performing additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Outgoing and able to relate well with parents and children of different age groups and cultures
• Experience working with children, job-related education, or training in recreation is desired
• A background check is required

Benefits

This will be a part-time position. Hours will include weekday Monday – Friday. WCPRD summer camp staff training/orientation will be provided; First Aid & CPR training will be offered. CPR and first aid certification is highly recommended.

Pay

$14/hour.
