Summer Camp Counselor

About the role

Early Steps Learning Center (ESLC) is now hiring summer camp counselors for our infant, toddler, preschool, pre-kindergarten, and school age programs. We are seeking individuals with experience working with young children.

Responsibilities

• Lead activities in a designated focus area, including visual & performing arts, STEM, sports & games, and a weekly theme-based curriculum.
• Support campers in daily activities such as sports, games, creative arts, and opening/closing ceremonies.
• Document and report incidents, maintain accurate program records, and ensure safety and growth of campers.
• Implement age-appropriate curricular activities and assist in maintaining a developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Participate in emergency procedures and safety guidelines.
• Assist in meal preparation and adhere to CACFP forms and daily attendance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent with hands-on experience.
• Associates or bachelor's degree in Education, preferably with 12-unit hours in Education.
• At least 17 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• First Aid and CPR certification, Child Abuse and Communicable Disease training upon hire.
• Physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities and support children during activities.

Qualifications

• Passionate and enthusiastic about working with children.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities.
• Experience in camps, youth programs, recreation, child development, or a related field preferred.

Schedule

Camp counselors work a 10-week session with training beginning in May and the possibility of continuing into the fall as part of our Before/After School Program.
