About the Co-op Program

The Co-op Program at Kokosing is designed to provide practical construction industry experience, the chance to work on value-added projects, connect with a mentor in your field of study, network with senior leaders and team members, and participate in professional development activities. The program is available for Spring, Summer, or Fall semesters and aims to train the next generation of industry leaders.

As a Co-op, you will work alongside full-time construction professionals who will guide and share their expertise. Your role will include specific project responsibilities and daily activities to give you firsthand industry experience. Supervisors and project staff will structure your work to align with your area of interest while contributing directly to project completion. A mentor will be assigned to support you throughout your co-op.

Upon completion of each summer term, Kokosing hosts a Co-op Capstone Event where co-ops present their learning and experiences. This event also provides opportunities to meet senior-level management and participate in interactive activities showcasing various aspects of the construction and engineering industry.

Responsibilities

• Work with full-time construction professionals on assigned tasks and projects.
• Contribute directly to the completion of quality construction projects.
• Engage in daily activities that provide hands-on industry experience.
• Participate in the Co-op Capstone Event, including preparing and delivering a presentation on your experiences.
• Network with senior leaders, team members, and other co-ops.

Opportunities and Placement

Co-op opportunities are available across all business units of Kokosing, including Kokosing Construction, Kokosing Industrial, McGraw Kokosing, Integrity Kokosing, Olen/Area Aggregate, Kokosing Materials, and Kokosing Inc. Locations span the Midwest (Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and West Virginia) and Mid-Atlantic (Delaware, Maryland, DC, Virginia, North Carolina).

Kokosing strives to accommodate geographical preferences when possible. Final placements are based on project availability and the most valuable experience for the co-op. Depending on the distance from your residence to the assigned location, a housing stipend for relocation or mileage reimbursement for commuting may be provided.
