About the Role

As a Customer Service Representative, you'll be responsible for providing a well-stocked and well-maintained department while delivering superior customer service. This role involves stocking and rotating products, maintaining department standards, and ensuring a clean and safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Stock and rotate items as needed, ensuring proper product placement and freshness.
  • Assist with inventory control, including loading, unloading, and moving product.
  • Organize, clean, and prepare the back area for the night crew and incoming trucks.
  • Organize merchandise on pallets to present the department professionally to the public.
  • Ensure the integrity of shelf tags and signage; create or prepare signage as needed.
  • Maintain standards in shrink, safety, inventory control, and sanitation.
  • Inspect shipments for out-of-date or damaged products to ensure quality.
  • Build, stock, maintain, and take down store displays.
  • Provide superior customer service by answering questions and assisting with selections.
  • Help customers locate store merchandise.
  • Merchandise products effectively using suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and build department sales.
  • Clean and sanitize the sales floor, display cases, prep areas, and equipment.
  • Properly handle and maintain the operation of all equipment.
  • Comply with departmental SOPs and store operating procedures.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Beauty: Knowledge of beauty and cosmetic aids.
  • Drugstore / General Merchandise: Prepare tags and signs as needed.
  • Grocery: Organize, clean, and prepare the back area for the night crew and incoming trucks; prepare tags and signs as needed.
  • Texas Backyard: Passion for the outdoors; ability to complete Green Thumb training (H-E-B internal training).
  • Entertainment: Knowledge of audio/video fields, specialty products, movies, music, electronics, and video games.

Requirements

  • 18 years or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent) – Required.
  • Completion of Company Orientation and Safety Training upon hire.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

This role functions in a fast-paced retail environment with detailed and precise tasks. You will work with customers and stay attentive to their needs. Physical demands vary by department:

General Physical Demands

  • Constantly (5.5+ hours per 8-hour day): Reach at waist, grasp.
  • Frequently (2.5 - 5.5 hours per 8-hour day): Stand, walk, reach at shoulder, reach at knee, stoop, pivot, pinch, perform fine motor movements.
  • Occasionally (0 - 2.5 hours per 8-hour day): Sit, reach at overhead, reach at floor, bend, squat, crouch, kneel, climb stairs, climb ladders, twist, push/pull with arms.
  • Exposure to cold, loud noise, and wet conditions may occur occasionally or frequently, depending on the department.

Department-Specific Physical Demands

  • Beauty:
    • Ability to lift 30 lbs and manage in excess of 30 lbs.
  • Drugstore / General Merchandise:
    • Frequently: Ulnar/radial deviation, extend and flex wrists.
    • Ability to lift 55 lbs and manage in excess of 65 lbs.
  • Grocery:
    • Frequently: Ulnar/radial deviation, extend and flex wrists; exposure to cold conditions.
    • Ability to lift 65 lbs and manage in excess of 135 lbs.
  • Texas Backyard:
    • Frequently: Exposure to ambient temperatures.
    • Ability to lift 65 lbs and manage in excess of 65 lbs.
  • Healthy Living:
    • Constantly: Stand, reach at shoulder, cervical flexion.
    • Frequently: Walk, reach at overhead, reach at knee, reach at floor, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel.
    • Occasionally: Bend, crawl, twist, push/pull with arms, perform fine motor movements.
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs and manage in excess of 50 lbs.

Partners must never lift beyond their own safe lifting limit. If an item is too heavy, break it down into lighter components or ask for assistance.
