SUD Counselor/Admission Specialist
About the role
Tully Hill Treatment and Recovery is a nationally recognized treatment facility dedicated to helping individuals overcome substance use disorder. The SUD Counselor / Admission Specialist plays a crucial role in the multidisciplinary team, providing essential counseling services and coordinating the admission process.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of patients seeking inpatient treatment for substance use disorder
- Perform essential counseling functions including screening, intake, orientation, assessment, evaluation, intervention, treatment planning, referrals, crisis intervention, counseling, patient education regarding substance use disorder, individual and group counseling, family and employer counseling, case management, reporting and record keeping, and care coordination
- Help facilitate and coordinate the admission process, ascertain insurance coverage, contact payers to obtain treatment authorization, communicate patient financial responsibilities, interview patients’ family members or other significant persons or agencies to gather collateral information, and document pertinent patient information in the electronic medical record
- Work collaboratively with all departments to achieve the best outcomes for patients and families
Requirements
- Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills are required
- Ensure quality, timeliness, and accuracy of documentation to comply with CARF standards, NYS OASAS regulations, other applicable State and Federal regulations, referral source, and insurance contract requirements
- CASAC-Trainee certification or above or other NYS Qualified Health Professional required
- 3+ years SUD treatment experience preferred
- Demonstrable knowledge of substance use disorder, 12-step philosophy, and knowledge of commercial insurance preferred
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a CASAC-Trainee program or higher level certification
- 3+ years of experience in substance use disorder treatment
Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organizational and computer skills
- Knowledge of substance use disorder, 12-step philosophy, and commercial insurance

Pay
$20.00 - $26.00/hour
Schedule
Full Time. Monday – Friday 8am – 4:30pm. Additional hours may be required on occasion for admissions in process or patient care.
