About the role

Husch Blackwell LLP is seeking a Billing Specialist to join our dynamic team. This position may be filled remotely or at one of our locations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal billing and client invoicing.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in initiating and implementing the monthly client billing process, including reviewing and editing proformas, modifying time and cost entries, and ensuring rates are accurate.
  • Manage the transfer, division, and combination of timecards, and apply available funds to billing as directed.
  • Verify the accuracy of billing and compile supporting documentation as required.
  • Acquire and maintain proper approval documentation, finalize invoices, and distribute them according to Firm and client guidelines.
  • Submit invoices through various methods, including e-billing, and coordinate with external vendors.
  • Address and resolve billing disputes and discrepancies promptly.
  • Collaborate with other departments for accounts receivable, client and matter setup, rate management, trust accounting, and billed on account funds.
  • Maintain and update billing systems and assist with customized reporting requirements.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks within designated deadlines.
  • Communicate with attorneys, clients, and staff to address billing inquiries and provide updates.

Requirements

  • A minimum of an associate's degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field.
  • At least two years of experience in legal billing and client invoicing.
  • Knowledge of Elite 3E and eBillingHub.
  • Experience with third-party e-billing vendor sites such as Legal Tracker, TyMetrix 360, CounselLink, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends, if needed.
