Substitute Teacher/ Instructor
Responsibilities
- Educate students with special needs, ages 18+, in a 3- 4 month post-secondary certificate program.
- Utilize lesson plans and activities for each class provided within the established and approved curriculum.
- Aid in relaying classroom theory and supervising students at externship sites, assisting them to apply what was learned in the classroom.
- Teach curriculum related to entry-level culinary arts, material handler, animal care, healthcare operations, hospitality, financial literacy, social skills trainings, and daily life skills.
- Administer assessments, assign homework, and monitor lab participation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred with a preference for credentials within Special Education, Vocational Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
- Qualified instructors will meet the minimum state (FLDOE/CIE) educational requirements plus one year of job experience related to the content taught. It is preferred that classroom instructors have some experience demonstrating teaching and classroom management skills.
- Experience working with adults with disabilities is preferred.
- Valid FL driver’s license and successful level II background check, physical and drug screen.
- Must be 21 years older or older.
