F.L.S.A.: Exempt – Substitute Systems Administrator/Technician (As Needed)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Network+ and A+ Certification or equivalent certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of LAN/WAN technology, Internet connectivity and TCP/IP
  • Three or more years' experience installing, terminating, and testing CAT5e/6/6a and fiber optic and COAX cabling preferred
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment supporting users with disparate levels of knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing hardware/software issues on Windows/Mac computers
  • Ability to learn and implement emerging technologies
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs up to a height of 4 feet
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Responsibilities

  • Consult with building administrators and teachers to plan and implement technology infusion into the curriculum
  • Act as a resource to all district personnel in regard to technology
  • Administer VOIP telephones, copiers, printers, fax machines and all instructional technologies (SMART Boards, Document cameras, projectors, digital cameras, etc.)
  • Install, update and maintain all district software applications
  • Enter all new staff and students for computer login and email
  • Set up and maintain Group Policies on the servers and Google Apps
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair hardware and operating system problems
  • Identify and correct network problems with local area networks and assist network manager with wide area networks
  • Manage/update computers labs with proper configuration
  • Configure and set up technical devices to work effectively for various instructional purposes
  • Maintain a proper inventory of equipment
  • Transport computer equipment between school buildings and the technology department
  • Supervise district technology repair services including an organized ticketing system for receiving repair orders, recording problems, and following through with repairs
  • Stock computer services repair center with appropriate supplies and equipment
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the work area
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of district staff and patrons
  • Work effectively as part of a team, communicate effectively within the Technology Department, with other administrative departments, school administrators, teachers, other staff and students, other school districts as required
  • Adhere to all district and state required safety procedures in performing daily work activities
  • Be familiar with current and emerging technology devices as they relate to the needs of the school district
  • Demonstrate competency in and knowledge of specific technologies as required to fulfill the requirements of this position
  • Manage Windows Servers and Active Directory / Print Server
  • Administer District's Google Apps for Education
  • Administer District's virtual and backup environment utilizing technologies such as VMWare
  • Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, dress, and professional manner for the work setting
  • Maintain strict confidentiality
  • Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Adhere to good safety practices and all district rules, regulations, and policies
  • All other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology or other administrators
