Substitute Support

Salary: $17.50 per hour

Responsibilities

Substitute Cook

• Prepare and serve food and clean up after meals.
• Prepare and serve meals according to the rules and regulations developed by the Food Section of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
• Perform kitchen clean-up duties.
• Follow required health standards of the local Department of Health.
• Follow food service skills development training plans for individual students.

Substitute Custodial Worker

• Clean the building and maintain the school grounds.
• Clean and maintain the building in accordance with established cleanliness standards.
• Safely operate custodial equipment and maintain it appropriately.
• Maintain an orderly and safe building and grounds.
• Demonstrate effective safety skills with students, equipment, and environments.
• Safely use cleaning supplies and maintain them appropriately.

Substitute School Office Assistant

• Type, file, keep records, answer telephones, and meet the public.
• Type utilizing a computer keyboard, with competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Access, and Outlook).
• Maintain moderately complex databases to provide service and accurate information for management.
• Review documents and reports to ensure work product meets established standards.
• Assist staff with completing forms to provide service.
• Open, sort, process, and distribute mail.
• Answer telephone, take messages, and route calls efficiently.
• Greet and welcome visitors, determine the nature of business, and conduct visitors to the appropriate person.
• Order and inventory supplies.

Substitute Teacher Aide

• Assist the classroom teacher in carrying out the individual student instructional program as directed by the teacher.
• Follow behavior support plans of individual students.
• Accommodate each student’s individual communication needs.
• Supervise students during off-campus instruction.
• Follow the daily schedule of work activities.
• Perform the daily self-care needs of students (e.g., diapering, feeding, hand washing, tooth brushing).
• Follow student-specific special health care procedures as trained by the school nurse.
• Assist with arrival/dismissal transfer of students to/from bus and classroom.

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Experience working with individuals with severe disabilities is preferred. Other qualifications and experience, which in the opinion of the Commissioner of Education meet the requirements of the position, may be accepted in lieu of the above.
