Responsibilities
- Substitute Cook
- Prepare and serve food and clean up after meals
- Follow rules and regulations developed by the Food Section of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)
- Perform kitchen clean-up duties
- Adhere to required health standards of the local Department of Health
- Implement food service skills development training plans for individual students
- Substitute Custodial Worker
- Clean the building and maintain school grounds
- Clean and maintain the building in accordance with established cleanliness standards
- Safely operate and maintain custodial equipment
- Maintain an orderly and safe building and grounds
- Demonstrate effective safety skills with students, equipment, and environments
- Safely use and maintain cleaning supplies
- Substitute School Office Assistant
- Type, file, and maintain records
- Answer telephones and meet the public
- Type using a computer keyboard with competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Access, and Outlook)
- Maintain moderately complex databases to provide service and accurate information for management
- Review documents and reports to ensure work product meets established standards
- Assist staff with completing forms
- Open, sort, process, and distribute mail
- Answer telephone, take messages, and route calls efficiently
- Greet and welcome visitors, determine nature of business, and direct visitors to the appropriate person
- Order and inventory supplies
- Substitute Teacher Aide
- Assist the classroom teacher in carrying out individual student instructional programs
- Follow behavior support plans of individual students
- Accommodate each student’s individual communication needs
- Supervise students during off-campus instruction
- Follow the daily schedule of work activities
- Perform daily self-care needs of students (e.g., diapering, feeding, hand washing, tooth brushing)
- Follow student-specific special health care procedures as trained by the school nurse
- Assist with arrival/dismissal transfer of students to/from bus and classroom
Requirements
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Experience working with individuals with severe disabilities is preferred
- Other qualifications and experience, which in the opinion of the Commissioner of Education meet the requirements of the position, may be accepted in lieu of the above
