Substitute Orientation for Pearland ISD Retirees

About the role

The Primary Purpose of this role is to provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth, in the absence of the teacher.

Please note that this application is only for recent Pearland ISD retirees who have received communication from HRS instructing them to apply. After submitting the application, an email with instructions regarding the next steps will be sent within 48 hours.

Qualifications

To be eligible, candidates must have a minimum of 60 or more hours from an accredited university.

• Knowledge of subjects assigned
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions

The role involves working with various tools and equipment, including personal computers and peripherals, and standard instructional equipment.

• Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
• Motion: Frequent walking
• Lifting: Occasional lifting of 35 lbs. or more; may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment
• Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise
• Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress
