Substitute - Nurse

Responsibilities

• Modify or remove health-related barriers to learning.
• Promote an optimal level of wellness to enhance the educational process of students.
• Develop and promote good community relations among community and school clientele.
• Track, monitor and enter data for immunizations and compliance with State mandates.
• Complete, update and maintain student records (accident reports, health records).
• Provide well student care, health care, first aid, immunizations and assistance to students as well as screen for nuisance diseases such as lice or ringworm.
• Implement Infection Control Procedures as necessary.
• Promote student responsibility and healthy consumer decision making.
• Document health related services in Designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program.
• Collaborate with other school and health care staffs to maintain and promote a safe and healthy environment.
• Establish procedures for and/or provides for emergency care and management of illnesses and injuries in the local school.
• Provide emergency care that includes timely and appropriate referral.
• Interpret and educate school personnel in department policies, related school district policies and Colorado State Laws (significant Health Conditions List, child abuse reports, emergency procedures, health screenings and assessment, immunizations, substance abuse, medication use, first Aid training).

Qualifications

• Special Services Provider License - School Nurse - Colorado Department of Education.
• Bachelor's Degree: Nursing.

Skills

• Knowledge of health-related services and procedures.
• Ability to interpret and educate on policies and laws.
• Ability to provide emergency care and manage illnesses and injuries.
• Ability to collaborate with other school and health care staffs.

• Scheduled Days Per Year: 0 Work Days (260 days indicates a year-round position. Time off [or Off-Track Days] are then granted based on the position. Any exceptions to the normal off-track time will be noted in the Additional Position Details section above, as scheduled work days.).

Pay

• Minimum Hire Rate: $90.00 USD Daily.
• Daily Maximum Hire Rate: $170.00 USD Daily.
• Full Salary Range: $90.00 USD - $190.00 USD Daily.
