Substitute Food Service Worker

About the role

Lewiston Public Schools is seeking an entry-level Substitute Food Service Worker to assist in maintaining high standards of nutrition for the school dining service program.

Responsibilities

• Aid in maintaining high standards of nutrition for the school dining service program.
• Prepare, cook, and serve meals as assigned.
• Follow all established sanitation procedures.
• Manage money and meal accountability.
• Clean and sanitize food service utensils.
• Use and report on needed maintenance of equipment.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret documents related to safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Basic mathematical skills including the ability to calculate discounts, proportions, percentages, and basic geometry.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
• Physical stamina to sit, stand, and walk as needed, and the ability to hear and communicate clearly.
