About the role
The Substitute Food Service Worker supports early childhood education programs, preparing and serving meals that meet USDA guidelines and consider cultural and individual dietary needs.
Responsibilities
- Serve family-style meals to children, volunteers, and staff, ensuring proper temperature and quantity.
- Store food and supplies according to FIFO method, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and transport carriers daily.
- Track food allergies and special diets, ensuring appropriate substitutions are made.
- Perform physical inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Maintain and update daily and monthly records and logs.
- Ensure the safety of the environment for staff and children.
- Participate in meetings, events, and training as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- ServSafe Certification preferred.
Qualifications
- Physical exam and background check required.
Skills
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to follow health, safety, and sanitation protocols.
- Knowledge of USDA guidelines and CACFP standards.
