Substation Commissioning Manager

About the role

This is a 1-year contract (W-2) assignment for a Substation Commissioning Manager of Renewable Energy. You will work on behalf of the project Owner as a Commissioning Manager on a portfolio of renewable energy projects (wind, solar, battery storage), overseeing commissioning, start-up, and operational turnover. The role is onsite at a substation location with per diem available.

Reports to: Project Manager / Commissioning Director

Responsibilities

• Ensure assigned projects' commissioning activities are performed with high quality and follow all safety policies.
• Coordinate and manage EPC contractor personnel, OEM start-up personnel, third-party start-up contractors, and operations personnel on site for commissioning and start-up.
• Ensure project reliability at operational turnover with minimal lost time in initial operation.
• Ensure compliance with all project contractual documents, including Power Purchase Agreement and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement deliverables with the local utility.
• Interface with Transmission Operators and Independent Service Operators to achieve project energization dates.
• Manage the Client's onsite commissioning personnel.
• Collaborate with project safety, engineering, and quality control parties.
• Review drawings, perform quality control inspections, and provide progress reporting.
• Manage third parties and suppliers, as well as direct report team members.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in on-site project support for renewable power generation project construction, start-up, and commissioning.
• 3+ years of experience working for an EPC in renewable power generation project construction, start-up, and commissioning.
• Knowledge of electrical construction and commissioning means and methods, including NEC and NFPA.
• Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) integration and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in E&I controls and instrumentation installation, start-up, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Protection and Controls implementation and troubleshooting.
• Strong skills in Outlook, PDF editing, Word, Excel (complex spreadsheets), document control systems, and PowerPoint.
• Understanding of scheduling and planning.
• Proven ability to work with engineering personnel on technical issues.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $55.00/hr. to $60.00/hr., dependent on experience, qualifications, and skills.
