Position Overview

Suspected Substance Abuse Counselor Needed!

Responsibilities

• Counsels patients through medically assisted programs and offers techniques for managing opioid addiction.
• Conducts group and individual sessions for crisis management and coping strategies.
• Evaluates patients' progress during therapy.
• Collaborates with doctors, nurses, and therapists for best overall patient outcomes.
• Conducts initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination.
• Establishes and reviews initial treatment plans with each patient.
• Completes bio-psychosocial assessments.
• Involves families and significant others in patient’s recovery process.
• Develops and participates in individual or group patient teaching projects.
• Performs other related duties as determined by supervisor.

Qualifications

• Must hold a CADC or LADC in the state of Maine.
• Minimum: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• PREFERRED: Bachelor's or Master's degree in a social or health services field.
• Previous experience with chemically dependent individuals is a positive factor.
• Certification required: CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) or LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor).
• Essential: Ability to maintain a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward the patient population.
