Position Overview
Suspected Substance Abuse Counselor Needed!
Responsibilities
- Counsels patients through medically assisted programs and offers techniques for managing opioid addiction.
- Conducts group and individual sessions for crisis management and coping strategies.
- Evaluates patients' progress during therapy.
- Collaborates with doctors, nurses, and therapists for best overall patient outcomes.
- Conducts initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination.
- Establishes and reviews initial treatment plans with each patient.
- Completes bio-psychosocial assessments.
- Involves families and significant others in patient’s recovery process.
- Develops and participates in individual or group patient teaching projects.
- Performs other related duties as determined by supervisor.
Qualifications
- Must hold a CADC or LADC in the state of Maine.
- Minimum: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- PREFERRED: Bachelor's or Master's degree in a social or health services field.
- Previous experience with chemically dependent individuals is a positive factor.
- Certification required: CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) or LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor).
- Essential: Ability to maintain a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward the patient population.
