Substance Use Counselor/Clinician

Position Overview

The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for supporting patients through medically assisted treatments and providing techniques to manage opioid addiction. The counselor facilitates both individual and group sessions focused on crisis management and coping strategies, evaluates patient progress throughout the counseling process, and collaborates with physicians, nurses, and fellow counselors to help patients achieve positive overall outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Counsels patients individually and in groups, adhering to established treatment plans.
• Conducts initial assessments and evaluations for service eligibility.
• Facilitates the establishment and review of treatment plans with patients.
• Completes bio-psychosocial assessments.
• Provides individual and group counseling services, coordinating all services throughout treatment.
• Involves families and significant others in the patient’s recovery process.
• Responds to patient grievances and complaints.
• Develops aftercare and discharge plans.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Behavioral Science.
• Substance abuse counseling experience, preferred.
• Demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population.
• Understanding of an EMR system (electronic medical records).
• Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.

Pay

Salary range from $23.73 to $28.00 an hour. The salary of the candidate(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, specialty and training.
