Substance Use Counselor/Clinician
Description
The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for supporting patients through medically assisted treatments and providing techniques to manage opioid addiction. The counselor facilitates both individual and group sessions focused on crisis management and coping strategies, evaluates patient progress throughout the counseling process, and collaborates with physicians, nurses, and fellow counselors to help patients achieve positive overall outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Counsels patients individually and in groups, focusing on crisis management and coping strategies.
- Facilitates establishment and review of the initial treatment plan with each patient.
- Completes bio-psychosocial assessments.
- Coordinates all services throughout the treatment process.
- Involves families and significant others in the patient’s recovery process.
- Responds to patient grievances and complaints.
- Develops aftercare and discharge plans.
- Performs other related duties as determined by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Behavioral Science.
- Substance abuse counseling experience, preferred.
- Demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward the patient population.
- Understand an EMR system (electronic medical records).
- Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.

Pay
The salary of the candidate(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, specialty and training. The salary range is from $24.00 to $25.00 an hour.
