Substance Abuse Specialist

About the role

RiseWell Community Services is seeking a compassionate Full-Time Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team at our ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) Team in Richmond Hills, Queens, NY.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide direct services with a focus on substance abuse recovery and harm reduction on a mobile, multi-disciplinary treatment team for persons with severe and persistent mental illness.
• Provide comprehensive treatment to individuals dealing with serious mental illness, preventing relapse, teaching valuable life skills, providing assistance, and connecting individuals with essential community resources.
• Work as a collaborative, mobile, multi-disciplinary treatment team, both in office and in the community.

Requirements

• Masters in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling or related field preferred.
• NYS licensed preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience in mental health and substance abuse treatment.
• A valid and clean NY State driver license, fingerprinting, criminal record check, and approval from OASAS.
