About the role

The Subcontract Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of projects by managing subcontracts and change orders. This position requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Examine and confirm departmental subcontracts and accompanying documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Determine the method to process subcontract based on factors like dollar amount, timeliness, existing contracts, and competitive bidding.
  • Address discrepancies, incomplete information, clarifications, and compliance issues in documentation.
  • Issue and maintain agreements, including subcontracts, design service agreements, work authorizations, and change orders.
  • Conduct subcontract-related audits to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Work with managers to establish and maintain effective subcontractor partnerships.
  • Collect and summarize subcontract and project data for reporting to management.
  • Communicate subcontract procedures and policies to departments.
  • Collaborate with various departments on the issuance of agreements and change orders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • An associate’s degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred.
  • At least 2 years of construction purchasing experience or contract administrator experience, preferably in electrical construction.

Qualifications

  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Understanding of negotiation, networking, and dealing with numbers, along with knowledge of sustainability, risk management, and ethical issues.
  • Working knowledge of procurement techniques, procedures, policies, and accounting.
  • Proficient in using computers and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), with Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat experience preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing requirements, and work under time pressure.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees, subcontractors, clients, and others.

Pay

$75,000.00 - $98,400.00 Annual

Schedule

This is a 6-month contract position with the potential for extension or full-time conversion based on performance and business needs.

Working Conditions

  • General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending.
  • Varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
  • Noise level is usually low to medium.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
