About the role
The Studio/Equipment Room Manager will staff the equipment room of the School of Communication in the Virginia Tech Center for the Arts. This position involves inventory management and basic maintenance of audio and video equipment used by students and faculty in the School of Communication.
Responsibilities
- Inventory management and basic maintenance of audio and video equipment
- Handle occasional duties in the TV studio and computer classrooms upon request of instructors
- Create equipment room student assistant schedules
- Manage hourly wage student training on check-out policies, including the Connect2 system
- Assist with inventory and management of fixed assets
Requirements
- Associate's degree or higher in a technology-related discipline or equivalent education, training, or work experience
- Experience working with an online reservation system, managing inventory, providing customer support in an educational setting, and working in a high-volume, service-oriented office
- Experience using various Microsoft Office products and multiple online browsers
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and oral)
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and use independent judgment
- Must be able to work some evening and weekend hours
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications with emphasis on electronic media (preferred)
- Working knowledge of Connect2 inventory management system
- Society of Broadcast Engineers membership (preferred)
