What are the duties and responsibilities?
- Classroom Support: Assist the classroom teacher in preparing instructional materials.
Provide support during lessons, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment. - Individualized Student Assistance: Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
Provide additional support to students with diverse learning needs. - Behavioral Support: Assist in managing student behavior and promoting a positive classroom culture.
Implement behavior management strategies in collaboration with the teacher. - Supervision: Monitor students during various activities, transitions, and breaks.
Ensure the safety and well-being of students in the classroom. - Assessment Assistance: Assist in administering assessments and evaluations.
Help record and compile student performance data. - Technology Support: Assist students with the use of educational technology and digital tools.
Support the teacher in integrating technology into lessons. - Communication: Communicate effectively with the teacher.
Provide updates on student progress and share concerns with the teacher. - Classroom Organization: Assist in maintaining an organized and conducive learning environment.
Help with classroom setup, displays, and bulletin boards. - Professional Development: Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills.
Stay informed about educational best practices and instructional techniques.
What are the required qualifications?
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Willingness to go through and pass the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test. This can typically be accomplished within a week to get you started.
- Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time, as these happen throughout the eight-hour day.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting student learning.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with the teacher and school staff.
- Flexibility and adaptability to different classroom dynamics and learning environments.
