About the role

The Opportunity: As the Student Support Services (SSS) Coordinator for the TRIO program, you will play a key role in supporting a federally funded program designed to help first-generation, low-income, and students with documented disabilities achieve academic success.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary operational and administrative point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, coordinating administrative functions across departments, managing records and budgets, providing administrative support to program staff, and acting as a liaison for the program.
  • Analyze, manage, maintain, and monitor operational, grant, and contract budgets in accordance with program guidelines; prepare and maintain financial and fiscal reports; reconcile accounts and process fund transfers and budget adjustments as needed; and complete a variety of financial transactions, including purchasing, payroll, travel, interdepartmental transactions, and participant stipends.
  • Establish and maintain participant records and files, track and report statistical information, verify eligibility documentation and academic records, and assist with organizing and implementing events for prospective and current participants.
  • Help ensure compliance with federal grant requirements and state and federal policies while serving as a resource to students, staff, and the public regarding SSS and other Access & Opportunity program initiatives.
  • Implement and maintain systems and processes that support student programs and services, coordinate tutoring resources, and provide advising and career guidance to students.
  • Contribute to increasing student retention, academic achievement, and graduation rates while helping participants successfully navigate their academic and career goals.

Requirements

  • Positions require a Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience leading or directing the work of others.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and positively in a team environment.
  • Attention to details, organized, and multi-tasking to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated public speaking skills/experience.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for programmatic and professional development purposes.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office including Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Advanced Degree (Ph.D. or Master’s) in relevant field.
  • Experience in the administration of student access programs in an institution or higher education (i.e. College Access Programs, TRIO, HEP/CAMP programs).
  • Prior experience with grant writing.
  • Demonstrated experience working with students from first-generation, low-income, students with a disability or underserved students in higher education.
  • Knowledge of the policies, principles and procedures of a higher education institution and federal regulations.

Pay

  • Student Support Services Coordinator 1: $3,750.85 - $5,397.56 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
  • Student Support Services Coordinator 2: $4,061,90 - $5,800.00 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

Schedule

This is a full-time (100% FTE), temporary Position. This position is overtime eligible. Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end on August 31, 2027. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment. We are currently in year 1 of a 5-year grant cycle.
