About the role

The Office of Student Legal Services (SLEG) provides legal advice and services to Indiana University Bloomington students. Key responsibilities include supporting attorneys, interns, and students, handling legal correspondence, scheduling appointments, and maintaining confidential files.

Responsibilities

  • Reception duties, including answering calls, verifying eligibility, and scheduling appointments.
  • Drafting and editing legal documents, maintaining calendars, and processing mail.
  • Maintaining electronic files and communicating with various constituencies.
  • Serving as a back-up for processing matters, formatting and sending letters, and updating databases.
  • Processing legal fees, maintaining payment logs, and tracking data.
  • Assisting with orientation training for new interns and guiding them through their internship.
  • Composing intern schedules and updating them regularly.
  • Handling requests for services, referring ineligible requests, and scheduling new assignments.
  • Performing notary public duties in the State of Indiana.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree in office management or related field preferred.
  • 4 years of experience in an office environment, higher education, or related field.
  • Notary Public license in the State of Indiana.
